Mirpur construction collapse: 3 killed, 19 wounded as rescue mission continues

MIRPUR: At least three people were killed in the collapse of the triple-storey marriage hall building, including the hall owner and his wife, on Friday afternoon in Azad Jammu and Mirpur in Kashmir, Geo News said.
A Pakistan Army rescue operation began yesterday, resuming again on Saturday as rescuers attempted to rescue the injured from the rubble.
17 people had been rescued from under the rubble on Friday, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) had said, as rescue and relief operations were launched by army troops along with the civil administration.
Media wing of the military had said the Urban Search & Rescue team of the army came in from Rawalpindi to assist with the efforts.
The incident occurred while labourers were employed to renovate the building of a marriage hall in the Chaksawari area of Mirpur.
More than 50 labourers were working on the building when it came to falling down, according to a wounded laborer, who was later rescued by officials.
