Questions arose over the third umpire’s decision to dismiss Pakistani batsman Saud Shakeel on the fourth day of the Multan Test.

In the last over before the lunch break on the fourth day of the Multan Test, Saud Shakeel was batting on 94 runs when a Mark Wood ball touched Saud Shakeel’s bat and went behind the wickets, which was caught by Ollie Pope while making a dive.

The English bowler, wicket-keeper, and other players appealed for caught out, but umpire Aleem Dar left the decision to the third umpire.

The third umpire declared Saud Shakeel out after watching the video carefully several times.

Soon after Saud Shakeel was declared out, social media called it a controversial catch and said that the benefit of the doubt should have gone to the batter.

A question was asked by the leading cricket website Cricinfo did Ollie Pope take a clean catch?

Pakistan’s wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal also called Saud Shakeel’s decision to be out as surprising and said that I think it was not an out.
