In a major development, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has proposed an allocation of Rs50 million for the welfare of the transgender community of KP.
The government has decided to allocate these funds to help the transgender community and protect them from unending problems they are facing in their routine life.
While addressing the development, Taimur Kamal a human rights activist who is also working on the rights of transgenders said that this was a very positive development as it will protect the transgender community from various problems.
Meanwhile, he also raised his doubts and said that many times in the past the government had allocated millions of funds for the welfare of the community but none of these funds were utilized.
It must be noted that KP is the most unsafe region for the transgender community as over 70 transgenders have been killed since 2012 and very few of the culprits have been held accountable.
