A joint press conference was held at Governor House Lahore regarding the cricket match between the government and the opposition. Punjab government spokesman Fayyaz Chauhan and Ali Haider Gilani, son of former Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani of the Pakistan People’s Party, held a joint press conference.
Referring to the match, Fayyaz Chauhan said that the first match would be inaugurated by Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar while in the final match Chief Patron of Punjab Assembly Pervez Elahi would be the chief guest. He said that he has also contacted Rana Mashhood regarding the cricket match and the Noon League MLAs also want him to play cricket.
The Punjab government spokesman said that the opposition should not take the PTI cricket team lightly, the selection of the team will be on 100% merit and there will be neutral umpires in the match. Fayyaz Chauhan also said that the teams will come on merit, there will be no recommendation, political shelling will take its place but cricket clash will be a good activity.
On the occasion, Ali Haider Gilani said that cricket is something that unites, on October 9, members of the government and the opposition will play cricket in a friendly atmosphere. “We will defeat the government on its home pitch, the playgrounds should be restored, we have played cricket with friends of the media, we will continue to play,”.
