Pakistan High Commission on Friday issued about 3000 visas for Indian Sikh pilgrims to participate in the 552nd anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak in Pakistan on November 17-26 in Kartarpura, Dawn reports.
According to a press release issued by High Commission, Sikh pilgrims will visit different Gurdwaras including Gurd¬wara Janam Asthan in Nan¬kana Sahib and Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur during their stays.
Sikh pilgrims have been granted visas under the 1974 Pakistan-India Protocol on Visits to Religious Shrines, which provides visits to 3000 Indian Sikhs for the celebration of Baba Guru Nanak’s birthday.
Thousands of Sikhs residing in other countries than India will also visit to attend the event.
Prime Minister Imran Khan has taken several steps to make things easier for Sikh pilgrims, including the historic opening of the visa-free Kartarpur Sahib Corridor in November 2019 to celebrate Guru Nanak’s 550th birthday. The recently erected Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib complex was a gift to the Sikh community in India and around the world from the people of Pakistan and their leadership.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan High Commission in India wishes the Sikh community well on the 552nd birth anniversary of the Sikh religion’s founder. The High Commission also wishes pilgrims visiting Pakistan on this occasion a spiritually rewarding Yatra.
