Russia has “successfully” tested the S-550 air defence system after selling its old defence system, the S-400, to India, according to Global Village Space.
The air defence system is capable of “striking spacecraft, ballistic missile reentry vehicles, and hypersonic objects at altitudes of tens of thousands of kilometers,” according to a source close to the Defense Ministry, according to state-run TASS news agency.
There is a chance that TASS’ source mistook the S-550 for the S-500, another air-defense system Russia is building with a particular focus on missile defence.
