35 pro-Pakistan YouTube channels banned by India in the latest move. Among these banned channels Makhdoom Shahab’s channel is also included and his network Apni Dunya Network’s 14 channels have been banned.

India on Friday said that it has blocked as many as 35 Pakistan-backed YouTube channels with over 130 crore views “for spreading fake and misleading information on social media”. The Indian Information and Broadcasting Ministry said the decision to take down the YouTube channels, two Twitter accounts, two Instagram accounts, two websites, and one Facebook account operating from Pakistan was made in view of intelligence inputs.

Makhdoom Shahab, Maleeha Hashmi, Umer Daraz Gondal, Salman Haider are prominent Pakistani journalists banned in India.

“Attack on journalism by the so-called largest democracy of the world is not new. The only crime we, as journalists have committed, is showing the true image of Indian atrocities and the state of religious minorities in India”, said Makhdoom Shahab-ud-Din while talking to Pak Affairs. He further added that “these tactics will not stop him and other journalists from showing the true face of India”.

This is not the first time, even before, well-known Pakistani YouTuber channels India had banned it. Countries that call themselves the best democratic in the world are afraid of a few YouTubers.

While this move by the Indian government is tantamount to restricting press freedom, on the other hand, the YouTube company has to think about where one person works hard day and night to run his channel, but in just a few moments, how can opposing country blows it up.
