Hyundai India, the country’s second-largest automaker, has come under fire on social media after the company’s Pakistan affiliate posted “solidarity with Kashmir” messages on its official Twitter and Facebook accounts.
On Sunday, Indian social media users urged for widespread boycotts or cancellations of the automaker’s bookings. Several verified BJP and VHP ministers’ Twitter accounts also called for Hyundai India boycotts on Sunday, using hashtags like ‘Kashmir Hamara Hi Rahega’ (Kashmir will remain ours).

“Let us remember the sacrifices of our Kashmiri brothers and stand in solidarity with them as they fight for freedom,” Hyundai Pakistan said in a statement on Saturday. The same has since been removed. Users have started tagging Hyundai India and the Korean company’s global Twitter handle, as well as the carmaker’s Pakistan handle, on social media.
