PCB Denies Venue Change for 2025 ICC Champions Trophy Final Amidst India-Pakistan Tensions

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has firmly rejected reports from the Telegraph indicating that the final of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy might be relocated from Pakistan if India qualifies. The PCB reiterated its commitment to hosting all tournament matches, including the final, within Pakistan.

A PCB spokesperson stated, “There is absolutely no truth to the reports suggesting that the Champions Trophy final could be moved outside Pakistan. We are working diligently to ensure that all preparations for the tournament are on track, and we are confident that Pakistan will be able to host a memorable event.”

In light of the upcoming tournament, the PCB has initiated upgrades to stadiums across Pakistan to enhance the cricketing experience for fans and international players. These renovations are part of a larger strategy to position Pakistan as a premier cricketing destination. The 2025 ICC Champions Trophy is scheduled to take place from February 19 to March 9, with a reserve day on March 10. Pakistan is placed in Group A alongside cricketing heavyweights India, Bangladesh, and New Zealand. Group B consists of England, South Africa, Australia, and Afghanistan.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is currently awaiting consultations with the government to confirm its participation in matches hosted in Pakistan. Matches will be held in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi, with Lahore hosting seven matches, including the grand final. Karachi’s National Stadium will host the opening match and one semi-final, while Rawalpindi will stage five matches, including the other semi-final, scheduled for March 5 and 6, leading up to the final in Lahore on March 9.
