Jason Gillespie, head coach of the national cricket team, recently shared his thoughts on former captain Babar Azam during an interview with foreign media, calling him “the best player” and expressing confidence in his return to form. “Every great player faces challenges, but Babar will bounce back and lead Pakistan to victories,” Gillespie stated.

Discussing red-ball captain Shan Masood, Gillespie remarked, “Shan took on the captaincy during a tough tour in Australia, and his rapport with the players is commendable.” Reflecting on his coaching experience, Gillespie acknowledged the unique aspects of coaching in Pakistan, adding, “I was aware that coaching here would be challenging and different from my past experiences. Every day, I learn more about adjusting to Pakistan cricket’s environment. There are long-term plans here for Pakistan’s cricket development.”

Meanwhile, national team spinner Sajid Khan provided insight into the strategy for the Rawalpindi Test against England. Sajid credited the selection committee for pitch preparation, explaining, “The pitch started spinning within the first 30 overs, but England’s batters made some mistakes too. I don’t use the ‘Doosra,’ so I focused on varying my pace, especially in the first innings.”

Sajid’s efforts paid off as he claimed six wickets, helping bowl England out for 267 on the opening day of the Pindi Test.
