If you’re considering a holiday in Portugal, you’re in for an excellent experience. Portugal is celebrated for its rich history, scenic landscapes, and lively culture, offering travelers a unique blend of historic charm, natural beauty, and vibrant city life. From ancient castles dating back to the 1500s–1800s—when Portugal was a leading maritime power—to colorful cityscapes, stunning coastlines, and delicious cuisine, the country has something for every traveler.

For Pakistani tourists planning a short stay (less than 90 days), a Schengen Visa is required. This visa not only allows you to visit Portugal but also enables travel within other Schengen Area countries, making it ideal for anyone wanting to explore more of Europe. The Schengen Visa, issued by Portugal or any other member country, permits short-term travel, stopovers, and transit through the Schengen region.

Upon arriving at the Portuguese border, officials may ask about your travel plans. Be prepared to show documentation such as proof of accommodation, evidence of sufficient funds for your stay, and a return ticket to Pakistan. These requirements are in place to confirm that you can manage expenses during your visit and that you intend to return after your trip.

To apply for a Schengen Visa to Portugal, Pakistani citizens should submit their application through Gerry’s Visa Application Centers, the official processing partner in Pakistan.

Portugal Visa Fees

As of November 12, 2024, the processing fee for a Portugal Schengen Visa is €90. At the current exchange rate of Rs295.4 per euro (€), this equates to around Rs26,586 in Pakistani Rupees. Ensure that you pay the correct fee when submitting your application to avoid any delays.

Bank Statement Requirement

Applicants must also provide a six-month bank statement, which should be signed and stamped by the bank, demonstrating financial stability. For a 30-day stay in Portugal, the minimum required funds are €75 per day, meaning your bank statement should reflect a balance of at least €2,250—approximately Rs664,650 based on the current exchange rate. This requirement is intended to ensure you can cover your daily expenses throughout your stay in Portugal.

Preparing all necessary documents and meeting the financial and documentation criteria will help make your trip to Portugal smooth and enjoyable. Ensure you comply with these guidelines for a hassle-free visa application process.
