A resolution seeking a ban on the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was introduced in the Punjab Assembly by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MPA Hina Pervaiz Butt.

The resolution condemned PTI’s alleged “organized attacks” on the Federation, accusing its leadership, including the provincial chief executive and the former first lady, of orchestrating these actions. It stated that rioters caused injuries to police personnel, set vehicles on fire, and inflicted significant damage to public property as part of a preplanned conspiracy targeting lives and assets.

The resolution further claimed that PTI’s single-day protests resulted in an economic loss of PKR 190 billion. Labeling PTI as an extremist organization, it called for the party’s immediate ban to prevent further harm.

On the same day, the Balochistan Assembly passed a joint resolution by PML-N and PPP, also calling for an immediate ban on PTI. This resolution, tabled by PML-N’s Mir Saleem Khosa and other provincial ministers, accused PTI of fostering chaos and inciting the public against state institutions. It highlighted that the party’s “anarchist agenda” disrupted the country’s system and alleged that a provincial chief minister’s opposition to the Federation advanced anti-state interests.
