TikTok sensation Jannat Mirza recently shared her preference for social media over cinema during her appearance on the podcast. Discussing her career choices, Jannat revealed that she would always choose TikTok over movies.
Explaining her perspective, she said, “Our generation no longer enjoys going to the cinema. They prefer staying home, relaxing, and scrolling through TikTok. It’s convenient and accessible—you can watch whatever you want on your phone at any time. That’s why I prefer TikTok over the big screen.”

Jannat also reflected on her journey, mentioning that her initial aspiration was to follow in her father’s footsteps and become a police officer. “I never had much interest in social media, but by chance, I became a social media star,” she shared.
Starting on TikTok in 2017, she gained popularity with 15-second storytelling videos. However, she admitted she no longer finds those early videos appealing. “Looking back, I find them pointless now,” added the Tere Bajre Di Rakhi actress.
In a separate podcast, Excuse Me with Ahmed Ali Butt, Jannat addressed remarks by veteran filmmaker Syed Noor about the underperformance of her film. Butt asked about Syed Noor’s comments regarding the movie’s failure to draw her followers to cinemas.
Jannat responded candidly, “I think the script was a bit weak. While the movie had its merits and I did it with my parents’ permission, a successful film needs a modern script and story. Syed Noor is my uncle, and I respect him greatly, but I felt the project didn’t align with what was initially promised.”
She further explained, “As it was my first film, I didn’t do my homework. The Canadian male lead also made his debut, so there were challenges. Overall, it was a learning experience, but I was a bit let down.”
