The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is connecting the country’s internet framework to the 2Africa Cable which is a 45,000 KM subsea cable and the largest cable project in the world.

Sources told that work is underway to integrate Pakistan with the new 2Africa Submarine Cable, aiming to greatly improve internet speeds nationwide. Led by Meta (Facebook), this massive 45,000-kilometer cable network connects 46 landing stations across Europe, Africa, and Asia. The cable is set to become operational in Pakistan by 2025, offering some of the fastest internet services globally.

Once live, the project is expected to alleviate digital constraints in the country and significantly enhance internet infrastructure. Its success hinges on uninterrupted progress and the commitment of authorities to improve connectivity in the coming years.
