Yesterday, the accountability court disqualified Makhdoom Habibullah alias Makhdoom Jalil-ul-Zaman, son of late PPP leader Makhdoom Amin Fahim, in a corruption case of Rs 1.5 crore for ten years and pleaded guilty. The court released Makhdoom Jameel-uz-Zaman on bail.

Makhdoom Jameel-uz-Zaman not only admitted his corruption but also submitted a pay order of Rs 1.5 crore to the NAB as a plea bargain. A few days ago, when the NAB arrested Makhdoom Jameel-uz-Zaman, there was a strong reaction from the PPP.

PPP leaders condemned the arrest of Makhdoom Jameel-uz-Zaman. Among those who condemned was Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari while condemning the arrest of Makhdoom Habibullah had said that NAB should release Makhdoom Habibullah immediately. He said that neither allegation nor evidence was presented and Makhdoom Habibullah was also arrested.

Bilawal Bhutto further said that after the announcement of the Pakistan Democratic Movement, Imran Khan further mobilized NAB against opposition politicians. He further said that retaliatory actions in the name of so-called accountability could not save Imran Khan’s fees. Bilawal used to call the arrest of Makhdoom Habibullah as an act of revenge. The same Makhdoom Habibullah admitted his guilt in the accountability court and returned Rs 1.5 lakh and prepared for a bargain.

Interestingly, when Makhdoom Jameel-uz-Zaman pleaded guilty yesterday after confessing to the crime, the Pakistani media did not run Bilawal’s old statements and did not ask any PPP leader the question that you used to say that there was revenge. Still, Makhdoom Jameel-uz-Zaman has confessed to the crime.
