Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mehmood has announced a date of 4 January for any decision regarding schools opening.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, he said that living nations protect their heritage. Quaid-e-Azam’s movement has a central role in Pakistan and without a leader, Pakistan would not have been possible.
Referring to the opening of educational institutions, the Education Minister said that the decision on whether or not to open educational institutions after January 10 would be taken on 4 January. He said that as the Minister of Education, he wanted the schools to open soon but could not take any risk on the health of the children. Shafqat Mehmood further said that religious schools across the country were closed. Across the country, educational institutions were announced to be closed
It was decided in the meeting by the Federal Ministry of Education that there would be winter holidays from 25 December to 10 January and children would not come to the educational institutions. The children would continue their education at home. On 11 January, all educational institutions reopened. Shafqat Mehmood had further said that home learning would continue from November 26 to 24 December. From 26 November, online classes can be taken from all educational institutions in Pakistan.
Schools, colleges, universities, tuition centers will all be closed. The government’s decision to close educational institutions is being hailed given the rise in cases of the deadly virus during the second wave of covid epidemic in the country.
An emergency meeting of the Private Schools Association was held yesterday in which the officials agreed that schools across the country would be reopened from 11 January. In this regard, whether the government announces anything or not, the private educational institutions will reopen only on 11 January. However, the strategy in this regard will be decided later.
