In Myanmar, the military has announced the imposition of a one-year emergency. A spokesman for the ruling party said de facto leader Aung San Suu Kyi had been arrested by the army.

The party spokesman also claimed that key leaders of the ruling party, including the president, had been arrested in military coup and a seizure of power.

The Myanmar Banks Association said all banks in Myanmar had been shut down.

According to the foreign news agency, the internet and communication connections in Myanmar started to be disrupted from 3 am today. In Yangon city, the army has taken control of the city hall, several military trucks have been seen in the city hall.

On the other hand, the United States and Australia have demanded the immediate release of the elected leaders, and the United States has warned Myanmar of possible retaliation.

White House spokeswoman Jane Psaki said the United States would take action if those steps were not taken.

It is noteworthy that after the disputed election results in Myanmar, there was severe tension between the military and the civilian government.

The military has suggested that if the issue of vote fraud in last year’s election is not resolved, the military will take control of Myanmar. Myanmar’s military has accused the election of rigging.
