The Chairman of China Overseas Ports Holding Company, the Gwadar Port operating company, Zhang Baozhong, stated that the first phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Special Economic Zone had been completed, involving 43 Chinese companies investing, and 200 other firms registered to this effect.
The Chairman; said that in addition to infrastructure and energy projects, a series of industries would be set up in the industrial area of Gwadar, including textiles, chemicals, cars and cell phones, creating new job opportunities.
Baozhong denied media reports on the obstacles to the Multibillion-Dollar project, stating that work is underway on the CPEC, as the ‘Pakistan Government’ is extending full cooperation.’
