Perth: In the twenty-fourth match of the Super 12 stage in the T20 World Cup, Zimbabwe caused a big upset by defeating Pakistan by 1 run after a sensational match.

In the match played at Perth Cricket Ground, the Zimbabwean captain won the toss and decided to bat first and said that they will try to set a big target against Pakistan, but their team managed to score 130 runs for the loss of 8 wickets.

Zimbabwe’s first wicket fell for 19 runs, Haris Rauf guided captain Irwin to the pavilion, and later on, 43, second player Medware was dismissed for 17 runs.

Then both the batsmen batted cautiously to bring the score to 64, then Shumba was dismissed for 8 runs, then Shaun Williams was dismissed for 31 runs on a total score of 95. The pavilion returned and then Sikandar Raza, and Luke Chongwe was also out on a total score of 95.

Zimbabwe scored 130 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the allotted 20 overs, with Sean William leading the way with 31 runs. For Pakistan, Mohammad Wasim took four wickets, Shadab Khan three, and Haris Rauf one.

Pakistani innings

Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan opened for Pakistan. After playing nine balls, Babar Azam was caught out after scoring just four runs, then the wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan returned to the pavilion after scoring 14 runs for a total score of 23. Later, Iftikhar Ahmed’s innings ended with 36 runs.

Then Shaan Masood and Shadab Khan batted cautiously and brought the score to 88. Shadab was dismissed for 17 runs, then Haider Ali was dismissed without scoring any runs and Shaan Masood played an innings of 44 runs for a total score of 94. As the pavilion returned, Pakistan also suffered its sixth loss.

On the fourth ball of the last over, when Pakistan needed three runs off two balls, Muhammad Nawaz played a high shot while trying to hit a boundary and returned to the pavilion after scoring 22 runs.

Pakistan needed three runs off the last ball, Shaheen Afridi was run out trying to get the second run, thus Pakistan lost by one run after a thrilling contest.
