A local court in Lahore has ordered the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to register a case against national cricket team captain Babar Azam in a harassment and blackmail case.
Additional Sessions Judge Hamid Hussain said in his judgment that plaintiff Hamiza Mukhtar had sought action against those who threatened, blackmailed, and sent obscene messages on her mobile phone. During the hearing, the FIA Cyber Crime submitted its report to the court. According to the report, Babar Azam was found guilty in this case.
The court wrote in the verdict that the numbers provided were registered in the names of Maryam Ahmed, Mohammad Babar, and Salimi Bibi. Salimi Bibi did not record her statement despite receiving 3 notices. Maryam Ahmed is included in the inquiry but the plaintiff Refusing to recognize her or send her any kind of messages, Maryam Ahmed was asked to submit her mobile for forensics which she did not provide.
According to the court, Babar Azam also did not join the inquiry. His brother Faisal Azam appeared in his place and asked for respite regarding Babar’s appearance. Babar Azam has not joined the inquiry so far and has not even recorded his statement.
It may be recalled that a girl named Hamiza Mukhtar, a resident of Lahore, had leveled serious allegations against national cricket team captain Babar Azam, including sexual assault, torture, and embezzlement, on which several hearings have been held so far.
