Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh is facing legal issues following his New Year’s Eve concert in Ludhiana.
According to reports, an assistant professor from Chandigarh, Punditrao Dharenavar, filed a complaint urging the singer to stop performing certain controversial songs during his live performance on December 31, 2024. Dharenavar expressed concern over the impact these songs could have on young audiences, especially with numerous minors attending the concert.

The complainant referenced a 2019 ruling by the Punjab and Haryana High Court, which instructed authorities to prevent the performance of songs promoting drugs, alcohol, or violence at public events. Despite a notice from the deputy director of the Women and Child Department in Punjab asking Ludhiana’s district commissioner to ensure Diljit refrained from performing such songs, including “Patiala Peg,” “5 Tara Theke,” and “Case (Jeeb Vicho Feem Labbiya),” Diljit proceeded to perform them with altered lyrics.
Diljit had previously been warned against performing these songs, even with modified lyrics, following similar advisories from various commissions. The singer and his team have yet to comment on the situation, and legal action is pending.
This incident adds to Diljit’s history of controversies, as he received a legal notice from the Telangana government in November for performing songs promoting alcohol and violence during his Hyderabad concert. Despite these ongoing legal challenges, Diljit’s Dil-Luminati tour has been a major success, with the Ludhiana show serving as the grand finale of his three-month India tour.
