Erdogan asks nation to boycott US Dollars, use local currency Lira

Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Turks should preserve all of their money in the lira and that recent currency rate volatility was mostly under control after the lira fell dramatically in the previous two months.
“I want all my countrymen to retain their savings in our money, to conduct all their businesses with our money, and I advocate this,” Erdogan stated in an Istanbul address.
“Let us not forget: we are bound to fall as long as we do not use our own money as a standard. We shall proceed using the Turkish Lira as our currency. Not with this currency, not with another currency.”
