KABUL: The Taliban’s religious police have warned women working in government institutions to cover themselves completely in the office and come out wearing blankets if they do not have clothes.

According to the International News Agency, the Taliban’s Office for the Promotion of Good and Prevention of Evil has issued guidelines for female employees working in government agencies.

The directive states that female employees should come to the office with full cover, otherwise they may lose their jobs.

The guideline further states that if the burqa is not available to cover the body completely, then come to the office covered with a blanket, but never come to the office without covering the body.

Speaking to AFP, the ministry spokesman Mohammad Sadiq Akif said that women are completely free to choose whatever kind of hijab they want to wear.
