Jaguar has unveiled its groundbreaking all-electric vehicle, the “Type 00,” marking a bold departure from its traditional green image and aligning more with the flamboyance of the Pink Panther. Officially revealed at a high-profile event in Miami, Florida, the Type 00 is a striking two-seat fastback coupe, measuring over four meters in length.

Although details of the concept car leaked before its official debut, the full specifications are now available, showcasing Jaguar’s daring new design direction. The vehicle features a sleek, elongated bonnet, a flowing roofline, a rear windowless design, upward-opening butterfly-wing doors, flush bodywork, and a slatted panoramic roof. It sits on massive 23-inch wheels and is finished in an eye-catching ‘Miami Pink’ satin. In a nod to the brand’s bold new direction, traditional Jaguar branding has been replaced with fresh logos, signaling the company’s pivot toward exclusivity in the electric vehicle (EV) market, marking a new chapter after over a century of history.

Jaguar is now targeting a more luxurious and high-end market, competing with names like Audi, Tesla, Bentley, and Aston Martin. The Type 00 is described as “a fearless new face for Jaguar,” with the brand emphasizing that it is “a copy of nothing.”

The carmaker plans to move away from its traditional customer base—once typified by middle-aged, affluent individuals like those portrayed in the Inspector Morse series—focusing instead on attracting a new demographic. Executives predict that just 15% of future buyers will come from existing customers, while 85% will be newcomers to the brand.

While the Type 00 is a “design vision concept,” it provides a clear preview of the styling direction for Jaguar’s next three production models, the first of which is expected to be a four-door Grand Tourer. The GT, which has already been spotted in camouflage, is scheduled for a reveal in late 2025, with sales to begin in 2026. It will boast an impressive 478-mile electric range on a single charge and will be capable of adding 200 miles of range in just 15 minutes of rapid charging.

The ‘Type 00’ name symbolizes both “zero emissions” and “a copy of nothing,” hinting that future models will follow a similar naming convention, with Type 01, Type 02, and Type 03 paying homage to iconic Jaguar models like the E-Type.
