Hockey is one of the national games of Pakistan. One of our best games. Unfortunately, let me tell you how hockey has been in decline. Pakistan last won the World Cup in 1994 and since then the Pakistani team’s performance has been disappointing. The Pakistani team, which participated in this year’s Olympic Games with big promises and claims, broke all old records of poor performance. Our team came in eighth out of 12 teams. The Asian teams that were taught to play hockey by Pakistani hockey experts are heavy on Pakistan today and Pakistan is ranked eighth in the world and sixth in Asia.
Our national language is Urdu. And we are all aware of its current state. English is currently our official and business language. Our education system is based entirely on English. The Urdu language is living a life of compulsion in its own home Pakistan.
