Federal Minister for Broadcasting and Information Fawad Chaudhry claim on Tuesday that Pakistan was still the cheapest country in South Asia.
Farmers in the country earned Rs400 billion this year as a result of higher crop output, he added. Ministers for Planning and Development Asad Umar and Defence Production Zubaida Jalal will visit Gwadar to resolve the problem of fishermen protesting there, according to the minister.
Fawad predicted that the country will run out of gas in the coming years since the country’s gas reserves are decreasing at a rate of 9% per year. According to the minister, when prices in Karachi rise, the entire country suffers. Rather than being irritated with the federal government, he advised the Sindh government to focus on reducing the price of essential items.
He said prices of all essential food items are low in Pakistan except tea as compared to other countries of the region. Prices of edible items are coming down across the country excluding Sindh, the price of flour is higher in Karachi and Hyderabad, he added.
