Approval has been given to make Rawalpindi Ring Road Economic Corridor the largest sports city of Pakistan on an area of 1050 acres. Preliminary talks have been held between the Pakistan Cricket Board and the Rawalpindi Development Authority to bring this state-of-the-art project to completion, while in the second phase, talks will be between the Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board and the Chairman Rawalpindi Development Authority.
It will be constructed between Adiala and Chakri Interchange at a distance of 6 to 8 km from Sports City Islamabad Airport. The Rawalpindi Development Authority will provide land for the state-of-the-art cricket stadium and the Pakistan Cricket Board will build the stadium. Decorated with floodlights, it will be the most modern cricket stadium in Pakistan with a seating capacity of 150,000 spectators.
The state-of-the-art cricket stadium will be able to host matches despite the rain. Along with the stadium, five-star hotels and modern commercial areas will also be built in the area. Sports City will also include a cricket stadium, hockey stadium, badminton court, boxing, and swimming pool.
