Government decides to make Shaukat Tareen Federal Finance Minister, claims private TV channel
According to sources of TV channel , the government has decided to make Shaukat Tareen the federal finance minister.
Sources said that Hamad Azhar was temporarily appointed as Finance Minister while Shaukat Tareen will be posted permanently. On the other hand, another private channel says that Shaukat Tareen will be given responsibilities as finance adviser or special assistant while finance minister Hamad Azhar will remain but Shaukat Tareen will be more involved.
Shaukat Tareen has also been the Finance Minister during the PPP regime.
It may be recalled that Hafeez Sheikh was removed a few days ago after which Hamad Azhar was appointed as Finance Minister. At present, Hamad Azhar also holds the post of Minister of Industry and Production. He also thanked Prime Minister Imran Khan in a tweet for his appointment as Finance Minister.
There have been three appointments to the post of Finance Minister. When the PTI came to power, Asad Umar became the Finance Minister, later Hafeez Sheikh became the Finance Adviser, and then Hamada Zahir was given these responsibilities.
