There have been two types of debasements in the language of public dialogue. One is the use of vulgar or offensive language to make a point, even if the reason is minor. The other is the employment of deceptive language in order to split the public. Both have the potential to completely alter the way politics is conducted. The use of harsh, impolite, and arrogant language in our political circles unmistakably represents the moral crisis and degeneration that our country’s political system is experiencing. The debasement, mortification, and degradation that the institution, which should be an exemplar of a civilized and articulate spectrum, projects is deeply disturbing. Sadly, it lacks the necessary dignity, intellect, and integrity. The elected Prime Minister’s demeanors and remarks are upsetting. A representative of the people and a role model for the people must not violate ethical and moral standards by shamelessly revealing an inappropriate use of crude language. It is unfortunate that even after becoming PM, Imran Khan has continued to use language that does not befit the office he occupies. This has been seen in Parliament and outside it. People take their cue from the prime minister of Pakistan. So when the prime minister uses the language of abuse, we should not be surprised that others in the ruling party and his workers do the same. After the opposition’s decision to move a no-confidence motion in parliament against the prime minister, instead of making the motion fail in parliament, the PM set the stage to take out his frustration and rugs his failure under the carpet by using crude and unbecoming language against political leaders. Unfortunately, the PM has nothing in his bag to show the public that he has made such reforms for the general public. Therefore, the only option the PM has is to use aggressive, foul, and crude language against the opposition and mislead the public. It is true that we are a loud society. We are readily captured by people’s loud tones, and this can be seen in our political scale as well, where such people are not only admired but also pushed and inspired to demonstrate such overt emotion by political leaders and fans alike. While the opposition is expected to be aggressive at all times, the government should convey maturity and even tolerance to some level in order to encourage healthy and positive discourse. Ironically, the government is acting as opposition, and the Prime Minister has gone beyond all constitutional norms and respect, promoting the spread of hate and violence through his public speeches, which may bring us to a point of no return. It is a shame to use jargon and emotional hooks to mislead the public, and it may harm your international relations when a leader in public openly criticizes foreign countries. Furthermore, PM is dragging an institution that has repeatedly claimed and demonstrated that it has nothing to do with politics.
