An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Lahore has found Imran Khan, the chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), guilty in cases linked to the events of May 9 and denied him bail in eight separate cases.
The decision, issued by Judge Manzar Ali Gul in a six-page written judgment, cites substantial evidence against Khan, including audio and video recordings where he is heard inciting violent actions.

The judgment highlights witness testimonies claiming Khan orchestrated a conspiracy at Zaman Park, preparing his supporters to disrupt state operations ahead of his expected arrest.
Khan’s legal team argued for bail, asserting that he was already in detention during the incidents and citing precedents where bail was granted in similar cases. However, the court rejected this defense, emphasizing the gravity of the allegations, which went beyond mere conspiracy or incitement.
Prosecutors accused Khan of actively encouraging attacks on military and government institutions and rallying his party members to follow his instructions. The ruling also referenced a prior Lahore High Court decision granting bail to PTI leader Ijaz Chaudhry, affirming Khan’s involvement in the conspiracy.
The court dismissed the defense’s claim that the prosecution failed to specify the date, time, or venue of the conspiracy, affirming that planning took place on May 7 and May 9 at Zaman Park. Undercover police officers posing as PTI supporters reportedly overheard discussions exposing the plot.
The court agreed with the prosecution’s argument, stressing that Khan’s influence over his followers made his statements and actions highly consequential. His directives allegedly led to violent incidents on May 11, including attacks on police and damage to military and government properties.
