The Pakistan tour of the England cricket series will not be broadcast in the country due to a license issue, according to Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry.
The information minister told a press conference after the federal cabinet meeting in Islamabad, which was chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan, that the federal cabinet had rejected a proposal by the Pakistan Television Corporation to work with an Indian company on a live telecast of the upcoming Pakistan-England cricket series, which is set to begin on July 8.
“PTV Sports will not broadcast the cricket series of Pakistan’s tour to England in 2021 because Indian broadcasting companies own the rights to the production,” he said, adding that the Pakistani government has made a firm decision not to do business with any Indian company until the Aug. 5 move is reversed.
