It is important to note that the first separate public school for the transgender community opened in Multan in July of last year. Speaking at a ceremony here on Monday, the minister added that the transgender community had been completely ignored in terms of educational opportunities in the past and that the current government took the initiative to establish schools for the transgender community. He stated that such schools would be established in all of the province’s districts. According to the minister, members of the transgender community are being admitted to separate schools due to concerns about the behavior of other students.
Murad also discussed school upgrading, claiming that as a result of this development, approximately 100,000 students have been admitted to schools. He also discussed the School Meal Programme and urged the private sector to play a role in adopting public schools under this program. Later, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed with Lifebuoy Shampoo to promote girls’ education in public schools. Shehzad Roy, a well-known singer, social worker, and humanitarian, was also present at the event.
