The UAE has extended its visa amnesty program until December 31, 2024, as announced by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP). This two-month extension offers individuals who have violated residency regulations additional time to regularize their status, either by securing employment to stay legally or by exiting the country.

Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, ICP’s Director General, stated that the extension aligns with the UAE’s 53rd Union Day celebrations, reflecting the nation’s commitment to humanitarian values and responding to high demand at service centers. Al Khaili emphasized that this is the final opportunity for violators to resolve their status, helping them avoid fines, re-entry bans, and legal consequences.

According to the ICP, the amnesty has received strong participation, with many violators seeking to benefit from its advantages, including the chance to secure their residency status, protect their families, and preserve their rights. The ICP has also collaborated with government and private sector partners to address challenges faced by some violators. Once the December deadline passes, fines will be re-imposed, inspections will intensify, and legal action will be taken against those still in violation of residency laws.
