The ongoing political and economic crisis in Sri Lanka has compelled the island nation to excuse itself from hosting the upcoming regional cricket event, Asia Cup 2022.
The Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has informed the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) about its inability to host the event.
As per Sri Lankan media, the SLC informed the ACC about its decision, maintaining that it is “not in a position” to organize the Asia Cup cricket tournament in the country due to the current political and economic situation in the country.
