The United States has banned all cotton and tomato products from China’s Xinjiang region.

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection said that the United States has banned the import of all cotton and tomato products from China’s Xinjiang region due to fears of forced labor. According to the acting head of the US Department of Homeland Security, the ban sent a message to importers that no forced labor would be tolerated.

Last year, the United States imported 9 billion worth of cotton and 10 million worth of tomato products from China.
