Washington: The United States has decided to end its cooperation with Saudi Arabia in the Yemen war.
According to the foreign news agency, President Joe Biden’s appointed national security adviser Jack Sullivan, changes in US policy in this regard will be announced today.
Following clashes between the Yemeni government and the Houthi rebel movement in 2014. Saudi Arabia formed a military alliance with eight Arab countries to conduct operations in Yemen. The coalition also had the support of the United States, Britain, and France in airstrikes against the Houthis.
International observers say Biden’s decision to end military cooperation with Saudi Arabia in the Yemeni conflict. Biden’s decision will affect the ongoing war between the Houthis and the Yemeni government. Earlier, the United States cut off arms sales to the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.
The US president’s national security adviser says the decision will not affect US operations against al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula.
President Biden is also expected to announce a special envoy to Yemen. The decision will mark a major shift in the Trump administration’s policies in the Arab world. It should be noted that President Biden also announced during his election campaign that he would end Saudi Arabia’s support in the Yemen war.
