WhatsApp has launched an upgrade introducing “custom lists,” an enhanced version of its chat filters. This new feature allows users to organize their chats into personalized categories, such as family, work, and neighborhood discussions. Creating a custom list is simple: tap the plus icon in the filter bar at the top of the Chats tab to set up new lists. Users can also edit lists by long-pressing any existing one, and both individual and group chats can be added, similar to the favorites function. All lists will appear within the filter bar for easy access.

The global rollout for this feature has started and will reach all users over the coming weeks, so keeping the app updated is recommended. WhatsApp is also working on several other upcoming features, including a hyperlink verification tool to prevent malicious links, a shortcut to open the photo and video gallery from the chat bar, automatic text formatting, a new dialer for the iPad app, notifications for third-party chat requests, and more.
