ISLAMABAD: Former President Asif Ali Zardari has demanded financial compensation from the federal government for the families of those killed in the Rohri train accident.
According to Pak Affairs, Asif Zardari in his statement expressed regret over the train accident near Daharki. He directed the Sindh government to take concrete steps for rescue operations at the spot while the federal government should pay compensation to the families of the deceased.
On the other hand, Railway Minister Muhammad Azam Khan Swati has taken notice of the train accident and ordered an inquiry within 24 hours.
It may be mentioned that 36 people were killed and dozens injured in a collision between Millat Express and Sir Syed Express near Rohri. Four railway employees were among those killed in the train accident.
