Nigeria blocked Twitter after President Muhammadu Buhari deleted a tweet threatening the southeastern secessionist groups which had been charged with attacks on state authorities.
After a Nigerian government official called the presence of the microblogging platform “very, very suspicious,” the government has suspended Twitter, which is used by millions of Nigerians.
The Information Ministry posted the Twitter suspension announcement on Twitter.
