The National Assembly (NA) on Monday shared shocking information about prevalence of bacteriological contamination, arsenic and nitrates in water in 29 cities of the country, The Nation reported.

“The water quality monitoring (2020-21) of 28 cities of the country has revealed prevalence of bacteriological contamination to the tune of 39 percent, arsenic 8 percent, nitrate 4 percent, fluoride 4 percent etc,” Ministry of Science and Technology shared in a written reply, during the Question-Hour session.

The water quality situation of 29 cities [all around the country] including Islamabad, Bahawalpur, Faisalabad , Gujranwala, Gujrat, Kasur, Lahore, Multan, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Abbotabad, Mangora, Mardan, Peshawar, Balochistan, Khuzdar, Loralai, Quetta, Ziarat, Sindh, Hyderabad , Karachi, Sukkar, Badin, Mirpur Khas, Tando Allahyar, Shaheed Benazirabad, Muzafarabad and Gilgit was examined by taking samples from these cities.
