The estranged leader of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) and brother of Federal Minister of Defence Pervaiz Khattak, “Liaqat Khattak” hinted to join Jamiat Ulema e Islam (JUI), reports The Nation.
Maulana Fazl Rehman in last day’s meeting with Ahad Khattak, the son of Liaqat Khattak invited him to join his faction JUI.
According to the sources privy to the development, Ahad Khattak sought some time for consensus with his father and group leaders before making any decision.
The source said that JUI leader Senator Talha Mehmood facilitated the meeting between both the leaders.
The source further informed that Ahad Khattak during the meeting criticised PTI and his uncle Pervaiz Khattak and hinted to quit the party soon.
It must be noted that there is a rift going on between Pervaiz Khattak and his brother Liaqat Khattak after the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) shock defeat in the PK-63 Nowshera by-election, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Irrigation Minister Liaquat Khattak was removed from his post for allegedly supporting the victorious candidate belonging to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
Khattak was removed from the provincial cabinet on the orders of the K-P governor on recommendation of the provincial government, a notification issued by the administration department.
