Sindh Governor Imran Ismail released an official statement on Sunday that the Green Line bus reveal ceremony would take place today.
Ismail announced the official launch of the Green Line buses at 3:30 p.m. in a social media post ahead of a cargo ship arriving at Karachi Port carrying a shipment of the vehicles from China.
“The ship carrying the first batch of 42 Green Line buses will dock at KPT in a few minutes. Inshallah will unveil the state of art buses today at 3:30. A red carpet for the arrival of buses has been laid and I am excited to revive. The wait is over. Thank u Prime Minister @ImranKhanPTI”
A Chinese vessel carrying a batch of 40 Green Line buses arrived at Karachi Port one day later than expected.
Four of the batch’s buses will be on display for the special ceremony. The buses for the Green Line BRT in Karachi have four doors, charging ports, and special accommodations for special people and women.
The ceremony will be attended by Sindh Governor Imran Ismail and federal ministers.
The second shipment of 40 buses is expected to arrive in Karachi by the end of October.
Asad Umar, Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, previously stated that the Green Line bus service will begin operations in Karachi in November of this year.
