The single helpline number 911 is now operational, and the prime minister is likely to inaugurate it this month.
“The caller will simply phone 911 and the call will be directed to the appropriate emergency response agency,” Deputy Commissioner (DC) Islamabad Hamza Shafqaat remarked.
He explained that there were multiple emergency numbers in Islamabad, which caused confusion, but that new number will help solve the problem.
Currently, the emergency rescue service is dialed 1122, the fire department is dialed 16, the police helpline is dialed 15, and the Covid-19 helpline is dialed 1166. “It’s difficult to dial the correct number in an emergency,” he added.
