Babar Azam, the world’s best T20 batsman, has been breaking records since his international debut in 2015.
Pakistan’s all-format captain continued his hot streak in the T20I World Cup 2021, leading the team to their first semi-final appearance since the T20 World Cup in 2012.
Babar set a new record for the most runs scored in a T20 World Cup debut. Matthew Hayden, a former Australian batsman, and current Pakistan batting consultant, previously held the record.
Mohammad Rizwan, Babar’s opening partner, has also played a role in Pakistan’s outstanding performance in the ongoing tournament. He also broke Hayden’s record in his first tournament. Rizwan scored 281 runs in 6 innings at a 70.25 average in the mega tournament.
The two batsmen also lead the T20 World Cup 2021 run-scoring rankings, having scored the most runs in both T20Is and T20s this year.
Pakistan will be looking to score more runs in their upcoming series against Bangladesh and the West Indies.
