Months of protest against Keita’s government gave Mali’s military faction a chance to seize power in West African country. The worsening security and alleged corruption are considered as the main reason behind protests. President announced his resignation during a brief address to the nation declaring the dissolution of government and the National Assembly.
Meanwhile, the leaders of military coup reiterated their support for elections within a reasonable time by enacting a political transition. However, the UN and African Union strongly condemned the military to seize power and arrest the president.
