The Universal Services Fund Board approved 10 projects worth approximately 1.5 billion to provide high speed internet service in tourism spots across four provinces.
The approval came during a meeting of the USF Board of Directors in Islamabad, which was led by Federal Secretary Ministry of IT and Telecommunication Dr Muhammad Sohail Rajput.
These initiatives will benefit nearly 4.4 million people, according to the conference.
The USF Board approved the award of high-speed mobile broadband contracts to Jazz, Ufone, and Telenor, as well as the contract for optic fibre cable projects to PTCL, on the advice of Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Syed Amin Ul Haque.
