According to Reuters, the US navy is attempting to recover an F-35C fighter plane that crashed landed on a US aircraft carrier (USS Carl Vinson) and sank to the bottom of the South China Sea.
Six sailors were hurt, as well as the pilot. Prior to the collision, the latter ejected from his seat.
This is a significant dilemma for the United States because the jet contained highly classified technology that, if received by the Chinese first, would provide them with a significant intelligence advantage.
China, on the other hand, has said that it has no interest in racing to recover the remnants of the $100 million stealth plane, which is also the most advanced US fighter jet.
