Senior Journalist Najam Sethi while explaining the context behind COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa’s call to the Deputy Secretary of State of America, alleged that COAS asked for financial help in return for providing airspace to the US.
Sethi said that at the best of his knowledge ‘You Scratch my back, I’ll scratch you back’ mantra would have taken place when the Army Chief had sought help from America in releasing IMF’s tranche of $1.2 Billion.
In return, Pakistan will provide the US drone its Airspace to carry out Operations against Al-Qaida’s leader. It is pertinent to mention that the US killed a banned organization leader yesterday via a drone strike in Afghanistan.
Al-Jazeera has reported that Pakistan provided the US air corridor for military flights to and from Pakistan. Moreover, South China Morning Post also reported the same.
Director of Asia Program Laurel Miller also Tweeted and questioned whether Pakistan will cooperate with the US in the provision of its airspace as she added that Pakistan airspace was likely to be used for Operations in Afghanistan.
