The Supreme Court of Pakistan has banned the transfer of police personnel in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa due to political interference in transfers and appointments.
A three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Umar Atta Bandial comprising Justice Ayesha Malik and Justice Athar Minullah heard the case because repeated political interference, especially under the new government, has pushed Punjab police to a cul-de-sac.
The Supreme Court has now ordered that police personnel should not be transferred or posted before completing their tenure in office.
