During an emotional court appearance in Islamabad, Bushra Bibi, the wife of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, tearfully condemned what she described as the “unjust sentencing” she and her husband have endured. Addressing the Islamabad District Magistrate Afzal Majoka’s court to seek bail for Khan in six cases and herself in another, Bushra expressed her deep frustration with the legal system.

“I’ve endured injustice from those meant to uphold justice for the last nine months. Both I and the PTI founder were wrongfully sentenced,” she said, breaking down in tears. She further stated, “I don’t expect justice here because there is no justice to be found,” voicing her disillusionment with the legal proceedings.

Bushra also lamented that her legal representation had failed to make progress in their cases, accusing lawyers of merely “wasting time.” She questioned whether the judiciary recognized the humanity of her husband, currently imprisoned, adding that she would not return to a court where she feels justice is absent. Ready to return to jail if required, she informed the judge that her belongings were in her car outside.

Bushra Bibi was released from jail last month after securing bail in a new Toshakhana case filed by the Islamabad High Court (IHC), while Imran Khan remains in detention at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi. Both deny the charges stemming from their conviction on January 31, when they were sentenced to 14 years over accusations of misappropriating state gifts during Khan’s tenure in office.
